Remediation Engineer

Woodard & Curran · Middletown, CT · 1 mo ago
Hybrid$70k–$90k/yrFull-time
We need to output HTML fragment with sections: About the role? The posting includes description of company, "What’s in it for you", "Who are we looking for?", "What will you be doing at Woodard & Curran?" (responsibilities), "What will you need to succeed?" (requirements/qualifications/skills). Also includes flexible hybrid work schedule, pay range, benefits mention. Must not repeat job title as heading. Use

for section headings (e.g., About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule). Include sections only when posting has real specific content. Avoid filler like "commensurate with experience". We have pay range: $70,000 - $90,000 a year. Also mention flexible hybrid work schedule: 2-3 days from office, office locations, travel up to 50% average throughout New England. Benefits: competitive benefits, strong bonus potential, stock ownership opportunities, relocation assistance, comprehensive benefits package. Also mention flexible work environment. So we can have sections: About the role (maybe summary), Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule. But we need to avoid thin sections. Let's see content: - About the role: The first paragraph about company and "What’s in it for you" maybe qualifies as About the role. Could combine. - Responsibilities: list of duties under "What will you be doing at Woodard & Curran?" (bullet list). Also earlier "To name a few, these projects may include:" also responsibilities. - Requirements: "What will you need to succeed?" includes experience, education, certifications, etc. - Qualifications: maybe overlapping with requirements; but we could separate: Qualifications (education, PE/EIT), Skills (technical skills, software). However we must avoid thin sections. Could combine Qualifications and Skills into one? But rules say use headings for those categories if content exists. We have content for both. - Benefits: mention flexible work environment, competitive benefits, strong bonus potential, stock ownership opportunities, relocation assistance, comprehensive benefits package. - Pay: salary range. - Schedule: flexible hybrid work schedule, office locations, travel. We must not include boilerplate like EEO, E-Verify, etc. Remove those. We must not include duplicated lines. We must preserve all substantive information. We need to output only HTML fragment, no /, no markdown fences. Let's craft. Structure:

  • Designing, optimizing, and supporting the operations and performance of groundwater pump-and-treat and other remediation systems.
  • Conducting corrective measures/feasibility studies.
  • Developing detailed remedial designs including preparation of construction drawings, technical plans, engineering cost estimates, and specifications.

  • Estimating costs and developing and managing the scope, schedule, and budget for various project tasks.
  • Designing in situ and ex situ soil, sediment, and groundwater remedies.
  • Preparing technical reports in compliance with applicable environmental regulations.
  • Selecting, coordinating, and managing subcontractors.
  • Evaluating and mitigating vapor intrusion sites.
  • Managing and overseeing remedial construction activities.
  • Managing and evaluating environmental data.
  • Remediating and/or redeveloping Brownfields sites.
  • Collaborating with project staff, clients, and regulatory agencies.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of professional experience with an environmental/engineering consulting firm.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited program; Master’s degree desirable.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-In-Training (EIT) strongly preferred.
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, and safe work practices mandatory.
  • Demonstrated experience developing project scopes, cost estimates, and technical proposals, as well as implementing construction and remediation programs.
  • Technical experience in the design and implementation of site remediation programs, including feasibility evaluations, remedy selection and optimization, design, operation, and lifecycle management of remedial treatment systems, in situ and ex situ treatment system technologies, site civil engineering and stormwater management design, and local/state/federal permitting.
  • Experience managing remediation contractors and construction activities in the field.
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to mentor, coach, and develop junior staff.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Experience with ArcGIS, AutoCAD, stormwater modeling software, contaminant fate and transport modeling software, Python, and/or database software is preferred.
  • A desire and drive to deliver innovative and effective services and to grow professionally and personally in an employee-focused, supportive work environment.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER and 10-hour OSHA Construction training is a plus.
We could separate Qualifications and Skills but we already included many skill items in Requirements. Could split: Qualifications (education, PE/EIT) and Skills (technical skills, software). But we have many skill items; maybe better to have Qualifications (education, licensure) and Skills (technical proficiencies). However we must avoid thin sections. Let's see if we have enough for each. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Master’s degree desirable; PE or EIT preferred. That's thin but maybe okay. Could combine with Requirements. Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, stormwater modeling, contaminant fate and transport modeling, Python, database software; plus technical writing, communication, presentation, interpersonal; ability to work independently/collaboratively; mentor/junior staff; OSHA training plus. That's substantial. Thus we could have:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited program; Master’s degree desirable.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-In-Training (EIT) strongly preferred.

Skills

  • Strong commitment to health, safety, and safe work practices.
But we already listed many of these in Requirements. To avoid duplication, we need to decide which approach. The instruction: "Preserve ALL substantive information; do NOT invent or summarize away detail." So we must keep all info, but we can organize into sections without duplication? Duplication is allowed if it's originally present? The posting had those items under "What will you need to succeed?" which includes experience, education, certifications, commitment, experience developing scopes, technical experience, managing contractors, writing/communication, teamwork, mentoring, Office proficiency, software experience, desire to grow, OSHA training. That's all one block. If we split into Qualifications and Skills, we would be splitting that block but not duplicating; we would be partitioning the content. That's okay as long as we don't lose any info. We must not duplicate content inadvertently. So we can allocate items to Qualifications (education, PE/EIT) and Skills (the rest). However we also have "2-5 years of professional experience" which is more a requirement/experience; could go under Requirements or maybe under Skills? Usually experience is a requirement. We could have a section "Requirements" for experience and maybe "Qualifications" for education/licensure, and "Skills" for technical/soft skills. That seems reasonable. Thus:

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of professional experience with an environmental/engineering consulting firm.

Now Benefits: we have flexible work environment, competitive benefits, strong bonus potential, stock ownership opportunities, relocation assistance, comprehensive benefits package. Also
