Remedial Assistant - English Language Development (ELD)

29 hours per week, 10-month position (non-exempt, hourly).

About the Role

The Remedial Assistant works at the specific direction of professional staff to provide remedial students with supportive and supplemental instructional assistance in reading and mathematics. This is not a professional employee position as defined by the Pennsylvania School Code.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree and teaching credentials preferred.
• Some experience working with school-age children; public school experience preferred.
• Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license; ability to travel independently between locations in the East Penn School District without public transportation.
• Ability to independently read, write, speak, and listen in English at a level commensurate with paraprofessional expectations.
• Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide supplemental instructional assistance for students through review and reinforcement of reading and mathematics skills.
• Attend all scheduled Remedial Assistant meetings.
• Complete all applicable Remedial Assistant Federal paperwork.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, lift, reach, communicate (vision, hearing, and speech), and carry or convey sufficient weight to safely and effectively perform functions, duties, and responsibilities.
• Ability to independently ambulate in and around school buildings and office areas.
• Ability to travel to and from assigned work locations without employer support.
