About the Role

The English Language Development Teacher will teach high school English at Phoenix Charter Academy, planning lessons and curricula, administering assessments, collecting and analyzing data, and supporting students to achieve academic excellence. Phoenix teachers serve as advisers and mentors, playing integral roles in the lives of our scholars. Bilingual candidates are highly encouraged to apply.

Phoenix Charter Academy aims to show the world what all young people can do, defying limitations of societal assumptions, classism, and racism. We focus on students on the margins of the traditional public education system, including those who have dropped out, are parenting, involved with the juvenile justice system, new to the country, or under-credited. We provide individually tailored, academically rigorous curricula and mentoring to help students reach their full potential.

Why This Work Matters

Students across America are dropping out of high school at an alarming rate, which impacts earning power, social service dependency, criminal involvement, and life expectancy. Phoenix Charter Academy addresses this by creating environments where students can demonstrate talent and resilience, preparing them for success in high school, college, and beyond.
