English Language Development (ELD) Teacher (2026-2027 School Year)[Immediate Start]

Salary ranges from $60,000 to $80,000 based on aligned years of experience up to 10 years. A $2,000 base salary increase is available if you hold an active teaching license with a Culturally Linguistically Diverse Educator, English Language Learner Professional Endorsement, or active certification in TEFL/TESOL/CELTA. A relocation stipend is offered for those joining from 75 miles or more from Denver.
This is a full-time, in-person position during the school year, with benefits eligibility. The start date is the first day of new staff training at the end of July.
About the Role
Our ELD Teachers play a critical role in advancing Multilingual learners’ (MLLs) knowledge and use of English, focusing on academic language to accelerate learning. The primary service delivery model is co-teaching.
- Middle School:
- Co-teach in Science classrooms, partnering with a Science teacher to deliver integrated, language-rich lessons using the OpenSciEd curriculum.
- Focus on helping students use language to make sense of scientific phenomena, build academic vocabulary, and communicate ideas.
- Some teachers may also lead a small-group, dedicated ELD class (10–15 students) differentiated by English language proficiency, using provided curriculum materials such as the National Geographic ELD program.
- High School:
- Co-teach in core academic subjects, such as English/Composition or other content areas, integrating language development into grade-level coursework.
- May teach a pull-out or dedicated ELD class for students at emerging or early-intermediate proficiency levels.
- Emphasize language as a tool for accessing rigorous content, fostering critical thinking, and preparing students for postsecondary success.
Responsibilities
- Deliver Rigorous & Engaging Content: Plan, co-plan, and teach or co-teach 3-5 classes daily using DSST’s curriculum resources, which center the cultures and histories of underrepresented and marginalized communities.
- Track and Support Student Growth: Monitor and assess student performance using a variety of tools to guide instruction and support individual proficiency. Hold high expectations for academic success.
- Promote Positive Culture: Employ DSST culture and support systems while validating students’ cultural identities. Foster a unified and positive classroom and school culture. Build trusting relationships with students and families.
- Pursue Professional Development: Engage in growth opportunities, including regular coaching and feedback, with a focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
- Contribute to School Community: Undertake additional duties such as supporting student recruitment, running a small group advisory class, after-school tutoring, and other tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum:
- Bachelor's Degree in any field.
- Demonstrated content knowledge (in-field status) via various qualifications. See qualification options here.
- Ideal:
- Proven commitment to and experience with serving students of color, students with disabilities, and/or multilingual students.
- A Colorado teaching credential is preferred but not required for most opportunities.

Pay
$60,000–$80,000 annually, based on aligned years of experience up to 10 years. Additional $2,000 for eligible certifications or endorsements.
Schedule
Full-time, in-person position during the school year. The role begins with new staff training at the end of July. Regular duties include standing, walking, bending, and lifting items up to 30 pounds.
