Remanufacturing Technician 1 - 3rd Shift

About the role

New York Air Brake, a member company of Knorr-Bremse Group and an innovative leader in the heavy-haul railroad industry, is seeking a Remanufacturing Technician. The company is recognized worldwide as a Center of Competence for heavy-haul freight railroad control systems serving customers around the globe.

Responsibilities

• Basic disassembly, washing, and assembly of parts
• Identify serviceable vs. non-serviceable parts
• Operation of semi-automatic equipment including pedestal buffers, hand buffers, wash machines, and ultra-sonic washers
• Handle parts and tools in a safe manner
• Proper use of power and manual tools including impact wrenches, drills, EZ Outs, and hand tools
• Understand and comply with all quality and safety rules, guidelines, policies, and procedures

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One to two years of related experience

Skills

• Technical capacity
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds with assistance
• Knowledge of generally accepted best practices and theory
• Good mechanical skills
• Knowledge of shop use of measuring devices
• Ability to complete disassembly process without destroying parts
• Communication proficiency
• Organization skills
• Time management

Work environment

The employee will be exposed to shop floor conditions including noise, heat, cold, dust, and dirt. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects and tools, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
