Relief Veterinary Assistant

About the role

VCA Far Country Animal Hospital in Palmer, Alaska is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team. The ideal candidate should have 3 years of clinical experience, excellent communication and technical skills, and familiarity with AAHA requirements and Fear Free Certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintain medical records
• Prepare surgical suite and surgical patients
• Fill prescriptions
• Perform laboratory work and diagnostic imaging
• Catheter placement
• Surgical preparation and assisting
• Dentistry
• Patient recovery
• Compassionate care for hospitalized patients

Requirements

• 3 years of clinical experience
• Exceptional communication and technical skills
• Familiarity with AAHA requirements and Fear Free Certification (a plus)

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current certification as a Veterinary Assistant from a recognized program
• Current CPR certification

Skills

• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Proficiency with medical software and equipment
