Relief Person

Location: Waukesha, WI 53186 | Onsite, second shift, hourly position

About the role

Assume vacant positions within the plant due to vacations, illness, or other reasons. Serve as a hands-on manufacturing team member who provides guidance and training in the manufacture of food products. Maintain orderly flow of quality production, keep materials organized, and advise supervisors of upcoming needs, productivity, and quality issues. Set a positive example in safety, quality, housekeeping, productivity, and employee morale.

Responsibilities

• Maintain equipment in good condition and repair; perform minor maintenance and adjustments as needed
• Start up and check equipment for preventative maintenance issues, proper set-up, and operation
• Perform pre-shift preparation, ensuring all product-contact surfaces are clean and ready for operation
• Prepare product according to established formulas, monitor production needs, and keep filling areas supplied with finished product
• Follow batch sheets without deviation; record any approved deviations on the batch adjustment sheet
• Unload incoming railcars and trucks; steam railcars as necessary, route materials to proper storage tanks, and consolidate when needed
• Monitor tank levels, record daily levels for cycle counters, and take samples of incoming oil and bulk materials for Quality Assurance
• Monitor wastewater process conditions, record conditions on process log sheets, obtain samples, and adjust processes to maintain efficiency and water quality
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions to determine root cause, using knowledge of electro/mechanical/pneumatic functions, air pressure, electrical eye alignment, and machine settings
• Interpret machine error codes
• Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety procedures, company policies, quality policies, and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)
• Perform quality checks on lids, packaging, weights, lot codes, special customer codes, and case inspections to meet quality and customer specifications
• Follow all food safety policies, procedures, and regulatory criteria, including SQF code, GMPs, and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience
• 3-5 years of manufacturing experience

Skills

• Self-starter with ability to think quickly and adapt
• Good structural and mechanical aptitude
• Ability to fill in across packaging lines, process rooms, bulk unloading, wastewater, etc.
• Ability to operate and maintain all production equipment, including label, RF, and code dating systems
• Capable of becoming forklift licensed/certified

• Typical shifts are 8-12 hours per day
• Additional unscheduled time after hours and on weekends may be required
