Relief Nursery Teacher - English/Spanish bilingual

About the role

Family Building Blocks is seeking a passionate Bilingual (English/Spanish) Relief Nursery Therapeutic Education Teacher to join our team in Salem, Oregon. The position offers a starting pay range of $20.88–$22.15 per hour, plus an additional bilingual differential for English/Spanish fluency. Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and evaluate developmentally appropriate classroom activities and curriculum
• Maintain engaging learning environments, daily schedules, lesson plans, and child documentation
• Conduct ongoing developmental assessments and monitor children's progress
• Utilize therapeutic and trauma-informed practices to support skill building and emotional development
• Collaborate with families and community partners to support children's needs and referrals
• Facilitate children's successful transitions to Head Start, preschool, childcare programs, or kindergarten
• Conduct home visits with families to support positive parenting practices and healthy child development
• Auxiliary families in strengthening parent-child relationships and reducing family stressors
• Participate as an active member of a collaborative teaching team

Requirements

• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• One of the following:
• AA/AS degree from an accredited institution with a major in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field;
• Step 9 on the Oregon Registry;
• Completion of 15 quarter credits or 10 semester credits in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, Special Education, or a related field, with a commitment to complete a professional development plan within the first year of employment
• Minimum six months of qualifying teaching experience in a certified childcare center or comparable group care program serving infants, toddlers, and/or preschool-aged children
• Valid Oregon driver's license and an acceptable driving record
• Ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screening
• Experience working with vulnerable children and families
• Knowledge of trauma-informed and relationship-based practices
• Experience conducting family engagement activities or home visits

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have a strong educational background in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field, along with relevant teaching experience and a commitment to supporting the growth and well-being of children and families.

Skills

Strong communication skills, ability to work collaboratively, and a passion for early childhood education are essential.
