About The Role

We are looking for compassionate and dedicated Relief Care Assistants to join our care team, providing high-quality care and support to elderly residents within a residential care setting. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about improving the lives of older people and are committed to delivering person-centred care that promotes dignity, independence, choice, and wellbeing.

Please note: This is a relief position with no guaranteed weekly hours. Work is offered on a flexible, as-required basis.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care and support tailored to individual resident needs.
  • Assist residents with mobility, nutrition, hydration, and daily living activities.
  • Support residents' physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wellbeing.
  • Promote residents' dignity, privacy, independence, and individual rights at all times.
  • Encourage and support participation in meaningful recreational and social activities.
  • Assist with dietary requirements and record food and fluid intake where required.
  • Monitor residents' wellbeing and report any concerns to senior staff.
  • Maintain accurate care records and documentation.
  • Support residents and families during end-of-life care with sensitivity and compassion.
  • Respond promptly to call bells and provide assistance as needed.
  • Ensure safe use and maintenance of equipment such as hoists and wheelchairs.
  • Adhere to health and safety, infection control, and safeguarding procedures at all times.

Requirements

  • Genuine interest in caring for older people.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to attend mandatory and vocational training.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative.
  • Satisfactory PVG check.
  • Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 3 months of employment.
  • Two satisfactory references.

Qualifications

  • SVQ Level II or III in Health & Social Care (or working towards this qualification) – desirable.
  • Previous experience supporting older people in a care setting – desirable.

Pay

£13.55 per hour

Schedule

  • Day Shift: 7:45am to 8:00pm
  • Night Shift: 7:45pm to 8:00am
