Reliability Sciences Manager
About the role
BAE Systems is seeking an outstanding first-line Reliability Sciences discipline supervisor for a technical engineering team. The ideal candidate will possess experience in Reliability Engineering, Maintainability Engineering including Built-In Test design and evaluation, Product Safety Engineering, and Failure Investigation/Corrective Action.
Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire the Reliability Sciences (Reliability, Maintainability, Safety, Built-in-Test/Testability) engineering team in executing assignments and responsibilities.
- Engage with team under his/her purview to ensure successful project execution and delivery of quality work products that meet the expectations of the programs.
- Develop MBE/Modeling processes and tools that provide greater capability and efficiency for providing reliability solutions to the various BAE Systems' customers.
- Pursue improvement initiatives including AI applications to achieve increased effectiveness and efficiencies in Reliability Sciences tools and processes.
- Manage staff workload and fulfill staffing requirements to support program and initiative needs.
- Acquire, develop, and grow Reliability Sciences engineering staff with the skills and capabilities to meet the demands of projects through hiring, staff development/training, mentoring, and personal growth opportunities.
- Support projects throughout the product life cycle, including bid and proposal, design and development, production, and sustainment.
- Partner and collaborate with Program Office, Engineering Leadership, Operations, and Business Area leadership in executing responsibilities.
- Participate in planning and coordination efforts associated with department expenses and capital needs.
- Participate in proposal activities by preparing proposal inputs including cost and time phasing of tasks and capture of risks and opportunities.
Requirements
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 10 or more years of relevant engineering experience.
- US Citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
- Demonstrated experience and leadership in engineering development and sustainment in support of DoW military electronics/avionics equipment.
- Strong technical leadership, effective team player, and solid individual contributor with sound technical fundamentals.
- Proven team leader with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Successfully established strong working relationships across company’s technical and non-technical functions.
- Motivated self-starter, creative problem solver with proven experience executing in diverse multi-disciplinary teams and driving positive design influence.
- Experience in developing Reliability and Safety Programs and ensuring compliance to Statement of Work and Specification requirements.
- Proven experience in the development of MBE/Modeling tools for reliability analysis solutions.
- Experience in the following: Failure Analysis and Corrective Action (FRACAS) and Root Cause Corrective Action investigations, Develops Proposal inputs including cost, time phasing, technical writings.
Qualifications
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:
- Master’s degree in engineering and 8 or more years of relevant engineering experience within the Reliability Sciences disciplines.
- Current DoW Secret clearance or Higher.
- Experience working with defense products which are based on advanced electronics technology.

- Communication: Concisely explain complex subjects (in person, emails, reports).
- Knowledge and/or experience with the principles of electrical and mechanical design.
- Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.
- Experience with/awareness of Reliability and Maintainability analysis and reliability growth software tools (ex: Windchill PTC WRR, ReliaSoft, Relyence) commonly used in the industry.
- Experience leading Design Failure Modes Effect Analysis (DFMEA) activities.
- Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques in support of program cost and schedule monitoring and control.

Full-Time Salary Range: $149603 - $254317
