Product Development

The Reliability Engineer II serves as a subject matter expert in the development team, focusing on test methods, product requirements, user needs, and data analytics. They collaborate with product management and participate in user research to define product specifications, ensuring reliable life, durability, quality, and features. The engineer designs experimental and analytical techniques to enhance development, testing, and qualification efforts. They interact with global engineers, suppliers, manufacturing, distribution, and service partners to support the product development process and proactively identify risks through critical thinking, data analysis, design reviews, and test results. They track and support multiple projects to ensure adherence to schedules and Milwaukee Tool quality expectations.

Testing and Analysis

The Reliability Engineer II develops new test methods and repeatable procedures for global test labs to evaluate product performance against user and design requirements. They document test plans, procedures, schedules, and best practices for execution and support the creation of complex test fixtures, GR&R, and correlation studies. They execute robustness tests to ensure products are nothing but heavy duty, perform data analysis, post-processing, and visualization of test data, reliability growth, and demonstrations. They summarize test results using statistical techniques and present concise, logical conclusions. They ensure timely failure reporting and drive root cause analysis and effective corrective/preventative actions with all stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or related engineering field with 2+ years of experience in product development, systems, reliability, test, and/or quality roles
  • Experience with or desire to learn: Analytical problem-solving skills and statistical application in areas such as Design of Experiments, sampling techniques, regression, reliability, FMEAs, hypothesis testing, etc.
  • Test development and design verification and validation
  • Experience with HALT, accelerated life, and other reliability test methods (a plus)
  • Life data analysis, reliability distributions, and related software (e.g., Minitab, Reliasoft Weibull++)
  • Hands-on data acquisition systems, data analytics, and related software (e.g., Python, nCode Glyphworks, Dewesoft)
  • Systems engineering fundamentals, requirements management, and proven ability to lead a primary function within a project team
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels and demonstrate excellent organizational skills
  • Knowledge/experience with the phases of residential and commercial construction and the equipment used (a plus)
  • Ability to travel 5-10% (includes both domestic and international)
