About the role

The Reliability Engineer supports maintenance activities ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operations in the Vandalia, Ohio plant. Key responsibilities include managing asset reliability risks, leading the mechanical integrity program, developing engineering solutions, and analyzing maintenance demands.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains utilities such as boilers, generators, HVAC, vacuum pumps, compressors, DI-water banks, and process critical equipment.
  • Responsible for like-for-like equipment replacements.
  • Maintains critical spares and ensures their availability.
  • Develops and audits preventative maintenance programs for continuous improvement.
  • Conducts analyses of reliability problems and develops best practices for repeat issue resolution.
  • Supports process development in construction, engineering, and development projects.
  • Identifies and manages asset reliability risks affecting plant operations.
  • Led the mechanical integrity program of PSM, aligning with RAGAGEP to enhance asset lifecycle performance.
  • Develops engineering solutions for recurring failures and other operational issues.
  • Creates analysis methods to determine maintenance demands for equipment and processes.
  • Analyzes Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to identify performance gaps and implement data-driven solutions.
  • Utilizes SAP and operations management software for maintenance planning, procurement, and workflow optimization.
  • Assesses critical spare parts and supports inventory control improvements.
  • Supports quality engineering with customer compliance and corrective actions.
  • Assists maintenance group in addressing acute problems and design inquiries.
  • Works with support staff to adhere to quality, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Coordinates all fire protection activities within their areas and during project-related work activities.
  • Supports HPS (Heraeus Production System) and lean objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • At least ten years of site reliability engineering experience, preferably in a chemical manufacturing facility.
  • Strong work ethic, ability to handle multiple tasks, manage change, and work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Self-starter with attention to detail.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data to replace equipment.
  • Sound technical skills, analytical ability, high integrity, and strong operational focus.
  • A well-organized and self-directed individual who is a team player.
  • SAP experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a chemical manufacturing facility is preferred.

  • Technical skills in reliability engineering and asset management.
  • Proficiency in SAP and operations management software.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
