Overview

Florida Crystals Corporation is a fully integrated cane sugar company with operations in South Florida. It owns multiple facilities including sugar mills, refineries, packaging centers, and renewable energy plants. The company is headquartered in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Detailed Roles & Responsibilities

  • Coordinates daily with plant management regarding operating and maintenance conditions.
  • Conducts engineering analysis and develops recommendations to improve plant efficiency, reliability, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Maintains records and files essential for maintenance-related analysis and reporting.
  • Reviews and determines the functionality of preventative maintenance activities and conducts failure analysis to prevent future failures.
  • Participates in outage planning and work coordination.
  • Develops and reviews material specifications, drawings, and work scopes for outage projects.
  • Performs detailed studies and calculations of component/system reliabilities.
  • Provides analytical and financial support for capital projects and system upgrades.
  • Works with operations and maintenance to develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Supports root cause and cost-benefit analysis on performance deficiencies.
  • Provides technical support and direction to contractors.
  • Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly reports, maintains records, and composes correspondence as required.
  • Reviews procedures and investigates operating incidents and abnormalities to make recommendations for future equipment purchases.
  • Examines objects, systems, or facilities and analyzes information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.
  • Develops or arranges for worker training on repair and maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.

Work Experience

  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of equipment, methods, and materials used in the repair and maintenance of a power plant facility.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of theory and relationships between components in a power generation process.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of various types of boilers and associated auxiliary systems in a power plant.
  • Must have demonstrated client relationship skills at all levels, leadership ability, technical excellence, and management skills.
  • Must have strong project planning and budgeting skills.

Education Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience as a reliability engineer in a power plant facility is preferred.
  • A professional engineering license is desired.

Workplace Accommodations

  • Must be able to ascend and descend stairs and stationary vertical ladders as part of normal work activity and emergency egress situations.
  • Must be able to work in contrasting plant environments.
  • Must be able to move about all areas of the plant, including catwalks, deck grating, wet and muddy areas, and uneven surfaces.
