About the role
The Relationship Specialist II position at VyStar Credit Union offers a competitive compensation package including a 401(k) plan, extensive paid training, and tuition reimbursement. Part-time positions require a minimum of 30 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional member experiences through in-person and phone interactions, identifying member needs and recommending VyStar financial solutions.
- Identify and grow consumer and business relationships by asking open-ended questions and explaining VyStar’s value proposition.
- Complete personal and business account transactions, open accounts, and process loan applications.
- Explain credit, savings, and investment options, and refer members to more complex products like mortgages, investments, and insurance.
- Offer additional services such as account maintenance, notarization, wire transfers, savings bond redemption, safe deposit box services, fraud claims, and credit card disputes.
- Participate in and support Credit Union initiatives and campaigns.
- Exercise sound judgment and discretion, maintaining compliance with regulations.
- Train and mentor new employees.
- Engage proactively with members through outbound calls to understand needs and provide comprehensive solutions.
- Resolve member problems independently, seeking to achieve a positive outcome.
- Lead by example through community service and promoting the VyStar brand.
- Utilize relationship-building and documentation tools to ensure comprehensive follow-up with members.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED required, Associate’s degree preferred.
- 1-2 years’ experience in sales and/or customer service, preferably with a financial institution.
- Proven top performance track record and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in using the Internet and Microsoft Office.
- A genuine passion for sales and a strong desire to help people.
- Ability to stand throughout the shift to assist members or other staff.

- Proven ability to ask probing questions and make recommendations.
- Strong critical thinking skills to resolve escalated issues or deescalate concerns.
- May assist branch leadership as needed.
- Expert user status on credit union systems, applications, products, and services.
- Passionate about helping members achieve their financial goals.
