About the role

Develop new business and cultivate client relationships to provide products and services, both consumer and commercial. Maintain and service an existing portfolio of bank clients, serving as their primary contact for bank business. Facilitate, structure, and close loans. Represent the Bank in the local community through active participation in community affairs and participate in marketing all of the Bank’s products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary relationship contact for clients and strive to offer extraordinary customer service by assisting with a variety of products and services, depending on each individual client situation
  • Seek out prospective new clients, both individual consumer and commercial, through leads, cold-calling, previous relationships, events, and other appropriate means
  • Build strong relationships through positive, helpful assistance, listening, understanding, referrals, and introducing additional services and products
  • Promote SouthEast Bank loans and services to clients and convert loan-only customers into long-term banking clients, with multiple services per household
  • Aid clients as necessary with banking business (e.g. ensure that they can order new checks, replace lost debit cards, transfer money, research transaction errors, counsel clients on the use of online banking or bill pay, advise clients on budgeting and balancing their accounts, etc)
  • Handle customer inquiries and complaints, and take appropriate action to resolve them timely
  • Listen to clients and match the best Bank products to their needs, including personal and business deposit accounts, treasury management services, consumer loans and lines of credit, residential mortgage loans, small to medium size business term loans and lines of credit, consumer and business credit cards, merchant services and occasionally larger real estate loans, as well as other products that are appropriate
  • Make goals and assist team when possible
  • Be aware of own book of business, economic conditions, rates, and other factors that affect productivity, and communicate with management about trends, concerns, successes, and other factors that affect the production of the team
  • Locate prospects for loans and relationships
  • Interview loan applicants, collect, and review financial and related data to determine the general credit worthiness of the prospect and the specific merits of the loan request
  • Obtain and analyze financial data and cash flow for loan requests submitted by clients, including available collateral and property evaluations
  • Submit information and share data with credit and loan operations
  • Ensure proactive follow-up and communication with all involved parties
  • Review loan agreements to ensure that they are complete and accurate according to compliance standards
  • Establish and negotiate, where necessary, the terms under which credit will be extended, including the cost, repayment method and schedule, and collateral requirements
  • Approve loans within specified limits and refer loan applications outside those limits to management for approval; prepare and present information as needed for proper consideration and determination
  • Monitor loan repayment activities, assist in computation, communication, and documentation of loan repayment schedules; take necessary action to collect from past due and charge off accounts
  • Work to correct and clear any loan file exception or deficiencies promptly
  • Work to manage annual reviews, loan maturity, refinance, and other loan events
  • Gather documents and communicate proactively with lending/credit team and clients to ensure seamless service

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Prior lending and/or credit experience
  • Understanding of loan documents, terminology, disclosures, loan compliance
  • Basic knowledge of Bank loan, trust, and investment center products
  • Proven experience networking and managing a portfolio of loans and deposits
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field
  • Loan/credit experience
  • Knowledge of banking regulations related to lending
  • Experience managing a large portfolio of loans and deposits (commercial and/or consumer)
  • Experience managing a portfolio of $40-$60 mill
  • Experience managing a portfolio of $75-$100+ mill
  • Community membership in network groups, board participation, volunteer groups, etc.
