About the Role

The Relationship Banker II combines expertise in customer service, sales, and operational management at an elevated skill level within the banking team. This advanced role merges teller and personal banker responsibilities, emphasizing comprehensive financial services to customers. It requires deeper knowledge of banking products, customer service, and operational processes, handling complex transactions, guiding less experienced staff, and building customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Customer Service & Relationship Management
    • Greet and engage customers professionally to build lasting relationships.
    • Serve as a trusted point of contact, ensuring high-level service for routine and complex banking needs.
    • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through personalized service and proactive outreach.
    • Provide guidance on financial products and services tailored to customer needs.
  • Sales & Cross-Selling
    • Identify and promote bank products and services.
    • Ask targeted questions to assess customer financial needs and goals.
    • Meet and exceed monthly sales and referral goals by recommending suitable banking solutions.
    • Refer customers to other lines of business (e.g., mortgage, wealth, treasury, commercial).
  • Account Management and Support
    • Open and manage personal and business accounts, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
    • Assist with account maintenance (e.g., updating information, transfers, check orders).
    • Support customers with online and mobile banking tools.
  • Loan & Credit Processing
    • Process customer loan applications (e.g., personal loans, home equity lines of credit).
    • Conduct initial loan screenings, gather documentation, and collaborate with loan officers.
    • Educate customers on loan products, eligibility, and terms.
  • Transactions & Cash Handling
    • Process transactions with high accuracy.
    • Balance cash drawer and ensure accurate transaction recording.
  • Compliance & Risk Management
    • Ensure compliance with bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
    • Monitor and detect suspicious or fraudulent activity; escalate issues as needed.
    • Adhere to privacy regulations and handle customer data securely.
  • Team Support and Mentorship
    • Guide newer staff on bank products, customer service, and operational procedures.
    • Foster a collaborative work environment by sharing knowledge and assisting with daily operations.
  • Branch Operations & Administrative Support
    • Assist with daily branch tasks (e.g., balancing cash, managing supplies, opening/closing branch).
    • Support branch leadership in maintaining security and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required.
  • 2 years of banking experience with lending responsibilities.
  • 1 year of training, mentorship, military, or management experience.
  • Active or immediate registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS) if lending (required by the SAFE Act).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Skills

  • Strong sales and customer service skills.

  • Understanding of lending and financial needs assessment.
  • Ability to:
    • Accurately count money.
    • Work under frequent time pressures.

Pay

Base pay range: $19.75–$22.50/hour. Salary is based on job duties, qualifications, experience, and local market trends. The role may be eligible for bonus or incentives based on company and individual performance.
