Responsibilities

  • Serve as the single point of contact for customers.
  • Connect with customers to understand their needs and match them with First United Bank products and services.
  • Mentor employees to do the same.
  • Establish and cultivate strong personal connections with customers.
  • Master First United Bank's delivery process and product knowledge.
  • Follow proper procedures and policies accurately and efficiently for all customer-servicing activities.
  • Lead by example and serve as a role model for Tellers and Relationship Banker I positions.
  • Maintain existing customers and develop new customer relationships.
  • Exceed performance goals and actively participate in all sales campaigns.
  • Offer excellent service, including greeting customers, smiling, using their name, and building rapport with customers designed to generate customer loyalty.
  • Identify and match customer product needs with First United Bank products and services by interviewing customers and discussing their financial needs.
  • Open new accounts, certificates of deposit, safe deposit boxes, and all other ancillary products offered by the bank.
  • Assist customers with routine questions and requests, such as balance inquiries, temporary statements, check copies, stop payments, hold requests, online banking, ACH, automatic funds transfer, direct deposit, wire processing, coin processing, notary services, and privacy.
  • Verify all transactions, place holds as appropriate, and prove cash drawer upon completion of assigned shift to ensure compliance with First United Bank standards and policies.
  • Proactively resolve customer complaints, problems, or other issues.
  • Review and resolve account issues listed in insufficient and exception reports on a daily basis.
  • Process a variety of transactions quickly with minimal or no errors according to established First United Bank policies and procedures.
  • Maintain branch cash supply and appropriate drawer limits, perform cash verifications, and vault duties.
  • Participate in all meetings, bank functions, and customer appreciation/community events as requested or assigned by supervisor.
  • Resolve security functions by opening and closing bank and vault, ensuring overall safety and security of bank grounds.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma is strongly preferred.
  • Some college education is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 year of banking experience as a Teller, Lending Assistant, or New Accounts is required.
  • Cash handling experience is preferred.
  • Superior customer service skills are required.
  • Basic mathematics to solve problems is required.
  • The ability to effectively read, write, and verbally communicate with customers and co-workers is required.
  • The ability to manage time effectively and work independently, without close supervisor, is required.
  • The ability to use good judgment and exercise decision-making skills is required.
  • Critical Thinking – requires logic and reasoning to identify solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • The ability to multi-task is required.
  • A professional attitude and appearance are required.
  • The ability to behave ethically while at work or outside your work environment is required.
  • Active Listening – Actively looking for ways to assist customers. Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate.
