Rehabilitation Technician

Essential Functions

  • Affords assistance to the Physical and Occupational Therapist during patient care and treatment planning.
  • Maintains open and effective communication with patients, their families, and other departments.
  • Supports the front office staff as needed.
  • Responds to patient inquiries and concerns to enhance patient satisfaction levels.
  • Ensures the care and maintenance of clinic equipment and keeps the clinic environment clean and safe as per the “Rehab tech duties list.”
  • Participates in supply inventorying and stocking, and organization of clinic shelves/cabinets.
  • Assists the Lead Rehab Tech with special projects.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Assists patients on the rehabilitation floor.
  • Contributes to the smooth operation and daily flow of the clinic.

Requirements

  • Educational Background: High school diploma or GED required. A technical program or BA in Kinesiology or Exercise Science is preferred.
  • Experience: One year experience in an outpatient therapy clinic is preferred.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of applying exercise as directed by therapists, understanding of clinic policies, procedures, regulations, safety/infection control, and quality control, and familiarity with therapy equipment and medical terminology.
  • Skills: Proficiency in applying exercise as directed by therapists, effective communication with therapists, front office staff, and patients, skill in using a computer system/EMR software, and accurate recognition of patient/clinic dangers and fall risks.
  • Abilities: Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships, ability to anticipate and recognize clinic and therapist needs, clear communication skills in both verbal and written forms, ability to serve as a resource to patients and staff, and the capacity to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor level to waist height.

Environmental/Working Conditions

Normal office environment. Some travel within the community. Requires sitting and standing associated with a typical office setting. Some bending and stretching are involved. Requires manual dexterity for tasks such as using a calculator and computer keyboard. Occasional support for transferring patients of various sizes is necessary. Requires occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. from floor level to waist height.

Organizational Requirements

Must read and acknowledge the Los Angeles Occupational Health and Safety (LOS) Employee Handbook and comply with the Los Angeles Office of Inspector General (OIG) Compliance Program. Must also adhere to OSHA requirements and receive necessary training, including Safety Training.
