About the role
Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) is seeking a Rehabilitation Services Technician to join our team. With over 55 years of dedicated service, FHCSD is one of the largest federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) in the country, operating numerous clinics and facilities across San Diego County. Our mission is to provide high-quality, affordable healthcare to everyone, with a special focus on uninsured and low-income individuals.
Responsibilities
- Instruct, motivate, safeguard, and assist patients practicing exercises and functional activities under direction of medical staff.
- Absorb and secure patients into or onto therapy equipment.
- Administer active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, cryotherapy, and heat according to physical therapy or chiropractic provider instructions.
- Administer static and intermittent mechanical traction according to provider instructions.
- Observe patients during treatment to compile data on their progress and report to physical therapy providers.
- Clean, sterilize, disinfect exam tables and equipment as instructed.
- Maintain supply/stock levels on gym or clinic floor, and in storage areas, ensuring organization and cleanliness.
- Order supplies as directed.
- Provide administrative support functions related to patient check-in and check-out, including identification verification, updates to demographic and insurance information, and ensuring appropriate forms are provided and completed accurately.
- Collect specified co-pays and payments from patients, screen for eligibility and financial assistance, complete required documentation, and ensure accurate and timely placement into the Electronic Health Record.
- Contact patients to schedule appointments and make reminder/recall notifications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
- Medical Assistant certification, C-NA certification, or completion of a Medical Terminology course preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a physical therapy aide or rehabilitation technician.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in customer service, preferably in a health care environment.
- Traveling between sites and other locations is occasionally required.
- Valid California driver’s license, automobile, and proof of minimum levels of car insurance as required under California law.
