REHABILITATION SERVICES TECH -

This role supports the Physical Therapy Wound Care department, an inpatient and outpatient service managing complex wounds and burns. The rehab technician participates in direct patient care and clerical work within a dynamic, team-based clinic that emphasizes education and growth.

About the role

Assist physical therapists, assistants, and speech-language pathologists with therapy services across pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups. Responsibilities include:

• Patient care support (20%): wound management, equipment fitting, therapy interventions, and non-skilled services within competence level and state regulations.
• Clerical duties (40%): data collection, patient calls/scheduling, provider communication, supply ordering/stocking, and inventory management.
• Maintenance tasks (40%): cleaning, monitoring temperature logs, and ensuring compliance with hospital/departmental policies.

Responsibilities

• Patient Safety:
  • Follow safety-related policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Proactively identify and report safety risks or concerns.
  • Encourage patient participation in their care.
• Administration:
  • Document patient information in the electronic medical record (Cerner EMR).
  • Use Microsoft Excel, Word, and TigerConnect for data entry and communication.
  • Order supplies via Lawson, track fulfillment, and manage vendor quotes.
  • Prepare correspondence, scan documents, assist with scheduling, and fax records.
• Cleaning:
  • Maintain a clean environment by sanitizing equipment, decluttering spaces, and cleaning floors.
• Communication:
  • Coordinate care with providers, nursing staff, and care teams using Cerner and TigerConnect.
• Compliance:
  • Maintain cleaning/temperature logs and follow equipment sanitation schedules.
• Cost Control:
  • Use supplies efficiently to minimize waste.
• Customer Service:
  • Assist internal/external customers with information and ensure satisfaction.
• Data Entry:
  • Enter and verify data for process improvement or clinic needs.
• Equipment:
  • Maintain and report malfunctions of patient care equipment.
• Facilities:
  • Assist in maintaining department facilities.
• Frontline Assistance:
  • Occasionally staff the front desk for check-ins, scheduling, and patient reminders.
• Orientation:
  • Train new employees and volunteers in departmental procedures.
• Patient Care:
  • Assist therapists with treatment activities, prepare patient areas, and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, oxygen saturation, weight, height, blood pressure).
  • Demonstrate clean/aseptic techniques: sterile supply handling, room setup, dressing removal, and wound cleansing.
• Supplies:
  • Manage inventory, bill equipment appropriately, and assist with custom orders.
  • Maintain Pyxis inventory in designated areas.
• Training:
  • Attend in-service programs and staff meetings.
• Coordination of Care:
  • Call patients for scheduling/reminders and communicate with clinical/non-clinical staff.
  • Prepare and deliver daily inpatient census reports.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• CPR for Healthcare/BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to perform heavy work: exerting 50–100 pounds of force occasionally, 25–50 pounds frequently, and 10–20 pounds constantly.
• Exposure to chemicals and biohazardous materials; PPE required.
• Tuberculosis testing completed upon hire and as required.

Qualifications

• No minimum experience required, though 1 year of directly related experience is preferred.

Pay

Shift differentials: 17% for Weekday Nights, 26% for Weekend Nights, and 15% for Weekend Days.

Schedule

• 0.75 FTE (Full Time).
• Rotating shifts.
