Rehabilitation Services Associate
Nature of Work
This position operates under the supervision of the Rehabilitation Program Specialist, VISIONS Program and will be responsible for all aspects of providing services to seniors with vision loss. Filling this position will allow seniors the ability to stay within their homes functioning independently. This position will be responsible for taking applications to provide services to the western and southern areas of WV. Providing evaluations and training with individuals and groups, public speaking, coordination and delivery of services with other community partners is a vital role with this position. The RSA provides services to older individuals who are blind and over 55 years old throughout the state. Services and training include - Daily living skills, magnification evaluation, sighted guide, direction in mobility techniques, coping strategies for vision loss, and the use of adaptive aids. Skills required include but area not limited to the ability to work collaboratively with other staff and community individuals. The ability to travel throughout the state and to provide services to a 19- county area within the State's western and southern regions. Overnight travel may be required. A valid driver's license is required. Must have the ability to plan and coordinate work schedules. Individuals must possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Training: High school diploma or the equivalent.
Experience: Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in paraprofessional or clerical office support work that includes the application of state and federal laws and/or guidelines.
Substitution: Successful completion of coursework from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience at the rate of thirty (30) semester hours of training for every one (1) year of experience.
Special Requirement: A valid driver’s license is required.
