Rehabilitation Counseling Intern

About the role

This MSU Rehabilitation Counseling Intern position provides vocational counseling to team members. Primary responsibility will be meeting individually with team members to provide vocational counseling, monitoring, and documenting progress.

Responsibilities

• Monitor client progress by speaking with team members and Vocational Services Specialists.
• Provide vocational counseling to team members regarding vocational interests, vocational barriers, and career goals.
• Write case notes regarding client progress.
• Implement crisis intervention procedures when appropriate.
• Communicate effectively with team members and Peckham staff.
• Maintain safe and clean work environment.
• Promote Peckham’s vision, values, and services to all customers and stakeholders.
• Assist in maintaining organizational-wide quality standards.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be a student actively enrolled at Michigan State University pursuing a Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling.
• Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Proficiency in using, or able to learn, SharePoint software.
• Able to perform basic Windows operations such as saving documents, copy and paste, creating folders, accessing multiple network drives, and searching for files.
• Must pass and maintain background checks.
