About the role
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a highly skilled Rehab Therapy Tech IV to join our team in Kerrville, TX. This position offers a supportive environment where you can grow professionally and personally while making a difference in the lives of others.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the development, implementation, and execution of a planned and assigned program of rehabilitative therapy.
- Assigns and/or provides guidance to other staff.
- Trains all new rehabilitation staff.
- Provides instruction to patients in therapeutic activities, self-care, and independent living skills.
- Maintains relationships with local colleges and community resources to assist patients in scheduling visits and guest speakers.
- Ensures equipment and supplies are maintained and replaced as needed.
- Develops and implements new curriculum and programming for patients.
- Communicates with plant operations regarding building and ground maintenance needs.
- Maintains cleanliness and safety of rehabilitation facilities and sports complexes.
- Meets with the patient’s treatment team coordinator to identify goals and complete the recovery plan.
Requirements
- Two years' experience working with people who have mental illness or intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Two years' experience in developing treatment and support plans for people with mental illness or intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
- Valid Texas driver license or obtain within 90 days of hire.
- Certified in CPR and Certified Rehab Therapy Technician (PTA) or obtain within one year.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of methods and techniques used in providing rehabilitation activities and services.
- Knowledge of mental illness and mental disabilities.
- Knowledge of regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to use necessary equipment to carry out rehabilitation activities.
- Ability to evaluate a patient’s level of participation in programming.
- Ability to document progress and behavior appropriately.
- Ability to interact effectively with patients, family members, and staff.
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
- Ability to instruct and train others.
Skills and Abilities
- Utilize computer hardware and software.
- Use necessary equipment to carry out rehabilitation activities.
- Evaluate a patient’s level of participation in programming.

$3,649.83 - $4,594.50 per month
