Responsibilities
- Supports daily therapy department processes and operations.
- Aids patients with daily personal activities.
- Supports tasks such as dressing, grooming, bathing, eating, toileting, and mobility as delegated by rehabilitation therapists.
- Prepares and transports patients according to the patient schedule.
- Aids therapists with daily care and patient therapy as delegated.
- Communicates to rehab therapists on outcomes/observations of patient care activities.
- Reports on patient performance, condition, and participation during care activities.
- Enhances patient safety through responsiveness to patients and caregivers.
- Provides assistance, care, and comfort under the supervision of rehabilitation therapists.
- Asks for therapist assistance when patient needs exceed tech's position and skill level.
- Affirms whether patient's need for information or intervention is beyond the scope one's own position and skill level.
- Determines whether guidance and assistance is needed from rehabilitation therapists.
- Communicates patient concerns and/or change in condition to rehabilitation therapists.
- Delegates physician, case manager, patient, visitor, or caregiver requests to therapists.
- Relays request for information on patient condition, diagnosis, prognosis, progress, plan of care, or discharge plan to the appropriate therapist.
- Suggests processes for improvement.
- Maintains awareness of patient satisfaction and safety data.
- Knows how specific department performance impacts the overall hospital financials.
- Makes recommendations to supervisor on departmental equipment needs.
- Aids with rehabilitation technology applications and modalities as delegated.
- Organizes, plans, and manages time effectively to complete assignments.
- Maintains position requirements, including training, and performs essential functions.
- Successfully completes all assigned training and annual skills competency as determined by the hospital based on new responsibilities, specialized equipment, high risk/problem-prone/or low volume procedures including but not limited to waived testing as applicable, application of restraints, and emergency response techniques.
- Completes mandatory training and courses required by completion date.
- Reports questionable situations, concerns, complaints or harassment immediately.
Requirements
- BLS (CPR) required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire within this role.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in hospital environment preferred.
