About the role
The Rehabilitation Technician assists in the following areas of personal care and development: Safety, Relationship Building, Activities and Daily Living, Health, and Community Integration.
Responsibilities
- Safely monitors and ensures safety 24/7, which may involve eyes-on, one-on-one, 15 or 30 minute checks, etc.
- Prevents, intervenes, and resolves crises.
- Establishes and fosters collaborative relationships based on trust and empathy through consistent and meaningful communication.
- Assists clients in building effective skills for problem-solving, communication, and independence.
- Travels with clients to stores, concerts, movies, and in-house social events (games, barbeques, etc.) to support their social and leisure interests.
- Assists with Activities of Daily Living such as getting to and from places, cooking, dressing and undressing, bathing and showering, combing hair, trimming nails, restroom assistance, bowel and bladder programs, feeding (G-tubes), wound care, and transfers.
- Maintains health by monitoring vitals for any medical conditions or illnesses, promoting positive behavior, attending medical appointments, and ensuring accurate information is relayed between medical providers and care teams.
- Connects clients with community opportunities to develop relationships with others, supports employment, educational, and volunteer interests and goals.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED
- Valid driver’s license preferred
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to become certified in CPR/First Aid
- Commitment to scheduled shifts, assigned duties, and performance expectations
- Basic computer skills
