Rehab Tech Inpatient (Wednesday-Sunday)

Transfer and transport patients and provide patient care under direct supervision of a clinician within the policies and procedures of the Institute and departmental program, in accordance with Maryland state laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clinical staff in the provision of patient care programs and perform supportive tasks, including administrative, maintenance, and operational needs of the program.
  • Oversee one or more programmatic areas of concentration/responsibility.
  • Prepare, maintain, and clean patient treatment areas before and after treatment sessions.
  • Adhere to Kennedy Krieger Institute policies regarding patient and staff safety, hygiene, patient privacy, and patient-specific and standard precautions.
  • Assist in therapeutic exercise and functional activities programs under direct supervision of a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, COTA, or PTA per Maryland state law.
  • Demonstrate appropriate application and removal of electrodes and orthotic devices, as well as technical proficiency with adaptive equipment and rehabilitation modalities.
  • Inform clinicians of any adverse effects.
  • Greet, transport, and assist patients with hygiene and/or dressing needs.
  • Remind and clarify appointment schedules for patients in conjunction with clinicians’ treatment plans.
  • Provide general program overview and conduct tours of the clinic for new patients and families.
  • Assist with maintaining program supplies, including ordering, inventory control, labeling, and storing supplies.
  • Participate in maintenance, organization, care, cleaning, transport, tracking, scheduling, and safe storage of equipment.
  • Identify, correct, and report quality control problems, such as removal and coordinating repair of broken equipment or environmental hazards.
  • Actively participate in meetings and committees, including tasks related to regulatory review and performance improvement projects.
  • Attend staff and supervisory meetings and training sessions.

Requirements

  • Rehabilitation Therapy Aide certification, or other relevant rehabilitation therapy certification, from an accredited institution.
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • High School Graduate, GED, or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Enrollment in health occupation curriculum, certification, or academic program is preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Rehabilitation Aide, Technician, or comparable position preferred.
  • Experience working with or treating children or adults with developmental or acquired disabilities is preferred.

Pay

USD $15.66/Hr. – USD $24.65/Hr.
