Position Overview
The Department of State's Bureau of Enforcement and Investigation seeks a Regulatory Enforcement Inspector to conduct inspections and investigations ensuring businesses comply with professional and occupational licensing laws, rules, and regulations. The inspector will primarily serve Lehigh and Carbon counties within the Scranton Regional Office, though assignments may occur throughout the region.
Responsibilities
- Conduct compliance inspections at licensed locations to verify adherence to applicable laws, rules, and required documentation.
- Collect evidence such as records and samples to support investigative activities.
- Identify violations and issue citations in accordance with established procedures.
- Prepare detailed inspection and investigation reports summarizing findings and actions taken.
- Interview individuals during inspections while maintaining confidentiality of identities and information.
- Appear at hearings and provide testimony regarding inspection or investigative findings.
Qualifications
- Three years of experience involving interpersonal public contact and inspecting for compliance with rules and regulations, including reporting related facts; or an Associate’s Degree plus one year of comparable experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that includes at least one year of such experience.
- Valid driver’s license that is not under suspension.
- Residency in Pennsylvania as required by state guidelines.
- Ability to perform essential job functions.
Schedule
Full‑time position. Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 60‑minute lunch break. Telework is not available for this position.
Pay
In some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable.
