Regulatory Counsel- Accident & Health Insurance (Hybrid/Full-TIme)

About the role

A leading global specialty insurance and reinsurance carrier is adding an in-house counsel to its respected Accident & Health (A&H) legal team. The attorney will serve as a day-to-day legal advisor to the U.S. A&H Business Unit, partnering hand-in-hand with Product, Underwriting, Claims, Operations, Actuarial, Finance, and IT, while also collaborating with U.S., Canadian, and cross-functional partners as the A&H business continues to grow internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Provide regulatory advice on U.S. healthcare, insurance, and compliance matters
  • Draft, review, and negotiate A&H insurance and reinsurance transactional agreements
  • Review consumer-facing marketing, advertising, enrollment platforms, customer communications, and fulfillment materials
  • Assist with A&H form and rate filings (including responses to Department of Insurance objections)
  • Support responses to complaints, regulatory inquiries, and market conduct exams
  • Manage company and vendor regulatory fraud training and reporting for U.S. legal entities

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in legal or regulatory compliance, ideally with exposure to insurance and/or healthcare regulatory matters
  • Practical working knowledge of Accident & Health insurance compliance and regulatory requirements, including state and federal healthcare-related laws (e.g., PPACA, ERISA) is strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with privacy and data security frameworks (HIPAA, GDPR, state consumer privacy laws, and emerging AI regulations) is a plus

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to translate complex regulatory concepts into actionable business guidance
  • Proactive, problem-solving approach with the ability to manage a wide range of legal issues across multiple business stakeholders
  • Proficient in legal research
  • Excellent PC skills and proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite

Skills

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited U.S. law school
  • Member in good standing of at least one state bar (Georgia admission or eligible for Georgia in-house registration exemption)
