About the role

The Regulatory Compliance Lead is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations governing the sale of the Company's products and services in North America. This role requires technical skill, industry knowledge, regulatory expertise and business acumen.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert regulatory guidance and leadership to the business regarding compliance with applicable laws and regulations relating to product development, product management and safety.
  • Build out GAF’s regulatory compliance program, including internal policies and procedures to meet regulatory standards related to our products.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and advice to legal, product management and product development teams on compliance with product-related regulations.
  • Collaborate with legal and other teams to develop corrective actions and strategies for addressing non-compliance issues.
  • Identify gaps across product lines in anticipation of future compliance requirements and potential markets for our products and ensure that proactive measures are taken to close any gaps.
  • Work with the product management team to assess product and market risks and proactively develop risk management measures for affected product lines.
  • Develop resources, such as regulatory summary documents, tracking sheets and quarterly updates for business partners and/or senior leadership on regulatory requirements, developments and trends.
  • Work with the government affairs team on advocacy efforts to impact proposed and pending regulations, ensuring that GAF is fully engaged in the development of policies and actions that affect the use of our products, services and systems.
  • Utilize understanding of regulatory compliance to develop and deploy educational tools for sales, product management and external customers as necessary.
  • Stay informed about emerging regulatory trends and make recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Provide cross-functional training on product-related regulatory compliance issues as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field required
  • Minimum 5 years experience in regulatory compliance
  • Travel: May require occasional travel (approximately 5% as needed)

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated track record of successfully implementing regulatory compliance programs
  • Strong understanding of regulatory reporting and compliance frameworks and regulations
  • Knowledge and experience with agencies/authorities (e.g., EPA, DOT, OSHA, NHTSA, FCC, Health Canada, CARB, California OEHHA, SCAQMD, etc.) and applicable laws/regulations (e.g., TSCA, Prop 65, Hazard Communication Standard, WHMIS, PCPA, FIFRA, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage various stakeholders
  • Strong internal partnership skills and experience working cross-functionally to align goals and implement processes
  • Plain speaking, common sense approach to rendering advice and working with others to meet goals and objectives
  • Results-driven project management, experience leading and executing effectively and delivering outstanding results
  • Prominent self-starter, results-oriented, high-energy team player with demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with data-driven decision-making
  • Able to assume ownership and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Able to clearly and accurately identify issues, place them in business context and provide actionable recommendations to business leaders
  • Able to think strategically and tactically
  • Demonstrated ability to handle high-pressure situations, including meeting deadlines
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills, and the maturity to take direction from others as necessary
  • Able to maintain rapport with peers, subordinates and consultants
  • Able to organize and prioritize tasks, as well as adaptable to changing situations

Pay

Base salary and/or rate of pay ranges listed are exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Individual compensation offers will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant candidate experience and skill, education, and/or qualifications. Base Salary Range: $120,000-$165,000

Schedule

This position is based in our Parsippany, NJ corporate headquarters which currently operates on a hybrid in-office schedule. Though employees are welcome to work in our office on Friday, this position must be performed in-office on Monday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely from the employee's home office on Friday.
