Regulatory Attorney

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated Regulatory Attorney with 3–7 years of experience to support legal and regulatory strategy for a cutting-edge U.S., CFTC-regulated exchange (DCM) and clearing organization (DCO) operating within the federal commodity derivatives regulatory framework. This role is ideal for a lawyer with experience in derivatives, exchange and clearing regulation, or financial market structure who is interested in working at the forefront of event contracts and emerging markets.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily support to Legal, Compliance, and Markets teams
• Advises on the application of the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA), CFTC and Securities Exchange Commission regulations to exchange and clearing organization operations
• Analyzes legal issues related to CFTC-regulated prediction markets
• Drafts and reviews contract self-certifications and other regulatory filings
• Drafts and negotiates participation agreements
• Drafts comment letters, no-action requests, and interpretive submissions
• Prepares responses to regulatory inquiries and examinations
• Maintains awareness of regulatory developments and enforcement trends
• Advises on exchange and clearinghouse rulebook development
• Collaborates with Compliance and Surveillance teams
• Supports development of internal policies and procedures
• Supports litigation strategy

Requirements

• J.D. and active U.S. bar membership
• 3–7 years of relevant experience
• Familiarity with the Commodity Exchange Act, CFTC regulations, and related market structure
• Strong legal writing and analytical skills
• Strong judgment and ability to translate legal requirements into practical business guidance
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience with CFTC processes (preferred)
• Familiarity with prediction markets (preferred)
• Experience with FCMs and IBs (preferred)
• Interest in emerging technologies (preferred)
