Regulation Strategist

Minimum salary: $23.94 per hour. Compensation is determined based on education level and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support universal tier of behavior intervention modality for all students.
  • Be accessible to support all students in real time as needs arise.
  • Act in a trauma-responsive manner for students in crisis using de-escalation and co-regulation skills.
  • Gain student insight through intervention implementation to provide new perspectives and tools via a cognitive behavioral approach.
  • Possess deep knowledge of behavior, brain development, and psychological development to respond productively to student needs.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and other staff to ensure transfer and generalization of new skills.
  • Communicate with building leaders, mental health professionals, and Student Intervention Team members regarding student needs to inform intervention plans.
  • Exhibit a positive attitude and provide support to maintain a safe, caring environment and foster school connection.
  • Meet regularly with the Student Intervention Team and Building Leadership.
  • Participate in required in-service meetings, workshops, seminars, and ongoing training (including summer months).
  • Create positive relationships with all stakeholders and students to ensure effective and satisfying interactions.
  • Follow district policy in maintaining private student data and confidentiality.
  • Participate in ongoing district collaborative teaming with Behavioral Strategists for continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the building administrator.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly sit, stand, speak, hear, see, and walk to carry out routine duties.
  • Occasionally lift, move, or push items up to 50 lbs (e.g., assisting children or moving furniture).
  • Supervise students in all types of weather.
  • Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and staff.
  • Implement Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) strategies, including physical restraint and escorting.

Work Environment

  • Noise level ranges from quiet to loud.
  • Work may be indoors and/or outdoors, including non-air-conditioned rooms.
  • Substance-free environment.
  • Fast-paced atmosphere with constant contact with students, staff, or the public.
  • Direct responsibility for the safety, well-being, and work output of students.

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students.
  • Ability to provide a variety of suggestions for working with students across settings.
  • Maintain flexibility in day-to-day interactions with staff and students.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of student information.
  • Awareness of district requirements and Board of Education policies.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance.
  • Skilled in or willing to be trained in Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
  • Knowledgeable in or willing to be trained in functions of behavior.
  • Willingness to be trained in brain-based, trauma-responsive practices.
  • CPI trained or willingness to gain CPI certification.
