Registration Clerk, ED Part Time

Responsibilities

  • Collecting the hospital’s Commercial, Blue Cross, Workers’ Compensation, and all other non-Medicare and Medicaid accounts receivables.
  • Submitting appeal letters and inquiries to the appropriate payor, contacting patients, physicians’ offices, and other third parties for significant data.
  • Working closely with Insurance, Pre-certification, Registration, Nursing, Medical Records, and other hospital personnel to ensure full reimbursement has been obtained.
  • Responding to account questions, including billing issues, patient balances, and incorrect data.
  • Updating all patient account information received in the department and reviewing past due accounts for possible referral to outside collections.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of healthcare patient accounts or billing experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in using personal computers and related business software (e.g., Microsoft Word, spreadsheets).
  • Working knowledge of the filing and payment requirements of Commercial, Blue Cross, and other healthcare payors preferred.
  • A medical terminology background preferred.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
