This position is regular, full time.
Responsibilities
- Performs clerical duties, including word processing, scanning, typing, email correspondence, filing, creating new records, and inputting data into the Meditech System.
- Answers telephone, provides information to callers, routes calls as appropriate, takes clear, concise messages, and contacts appropriate staff to promote prompt and effective communication.
- Accurately schedules, pre-registers, and registers Diabetes Education Services outpatient appointments with an educator, either for one-to-one consultation or group classes.
- Obtains referrals for all participants and ensures the referral is correctly completed prior to scheduling the appointment.
- Provides assistance with mailings of correspondence, announcements, and follow-up letters to patients.
- Generates insurance estimates and provides insurance counseling to participants prior to the initial appointment.
- Maintains and files confidential patient records within the Diabetes Education department.
- Accesses the ECW system to obtain current information on participants as needed.
- Using the current Meditech computer system, accurately enters all demographics, registers patients, inputs charges, and reconciles charges for Diabetes Education Program services.
- Orders supplies or equipment necessary for the department’s operation using the current computer system.
- Coordinates department activities to assure patient flow is efficient.
- Greets participants and obtains necessary documents for registration.
Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Prior experience with clerical responsibilities or in a healthcare field.
