About the role
The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for animal care and welfare, with the ability to assist veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to a variety of animals.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures, ensuring a sterile environment through proper aseptic technique.
- Perform routine laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis, while maintaining accurate records of results.
- Handle and restrain animals safely during examinations, treatments, and procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Monitor animal patients during recovery from anesthesia or medical procedures, providing critical care when necessary.
- Conduct X-Ray imaging as required for diagnostic purposes while adhering to safety protocols.
- Provide education to pet owners regarding animal health, nutrition, and preventive care.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a similar role is required.
- Strong skills in dog handling and general animal handling techniques are essential.
- Knowledge of veterinary critical care practices is highly desirable.
- Experience with animal catheterization procedures is required.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- License/Certification: Current license as a Veterinary Technician.
Skills
- Proficiency in clinical and laboratory procedures.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with pet owners and team members.
Pay
$25.00 - $28.00 per hour
