About the role
Provide preventative veterinary services to patients under the support of an off-site employee veterinarian who serves as the veterinarian agent.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality preventative nursing care in a community clinic setting with a strong focus on wellness and preventative medicine.
- Provide guidance and oversight to veterinary assistants and support staff; foster a collaborative, team-oriented clinic culture.
- Educate pet parents on preventative health care.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with all regulatory and practice standards.
- Uphold safety protocols and ensure a clean, organized clinical environment.
Requirements
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in a full service, ER, or urgent care veterinary hospital.
- High School diploma or equivalent is preferred; any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), or Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) required.
- Active Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license in the state of California.
Skills
- Familiarity with core and lifestyle vaccinations for both canine and feline patients and current vaccination guidelines.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while managing many patients with accuracy, compassion, and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to lead a team and manage workflow in a clinical environment.
- Confident in handling emergency situations with calm, effective triage and decision-making.
- Familiarity with intubation & administering lifesaving CPR to pets.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Ability to work prolonged periods of time and switch focus rapidly in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and client service skills.
- Independent thinker with a high level of initiative and professionalism.
Working Conditions
