About the role

You will join a major regional referral medical center that serves as a hub for advanced care in eastern North Carolina. The hospital is a high-acuity, Level I Trauma teaching facility known for its comprehensive cardiovascular and surgical services and its commitment to quality, safety, and evidence-based practice. The vascular laboratory supports a full spectrum of inpatient and outpatient vascular services. As a Vascular Technologist, you will perform the complete range of non-invasive vascular studies, including carotid and vertebral duplex imaging, upper and lower extremity arterial and venous studies, abdominal aorta and visceral vessel evaluations, graft and stent surveillance, and physiologic testing with segmental pressures and waveform analysis. You will work closely with vascular surgeons, cardiologists, neurologists, and other specialists, providing essential diagnostic information that directly influences patient management, surgical planning, and interventional procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating scheduled outpatient studies and prioritizing inpatient and emergent exams
  • Performing comprehensive vascular ultrasound examinations according to established lab protocols and national standards
  • Optimizing images and ensuring accurate measurements, doppler assessments, and waveforms
  • Recognizing critical findings such as acute deep vein thrombosis, significant carotid stenosis, or rapidly expanding aneurysms and promptly communicating results to the appropriate provider
  • Documenting procedures and findings thoroughly within the EMR and structured reporting systems
  • Collaborating with physicians during complex or urgent cases and participating in multidisciplinary discussions when needed
  • Contributing to quality assurance activities, protocol updates, and ongoing lab accreditation efforts

Patient volumes are robust, providing exposure to a wide variety of vascular conditions across diverse age groups and backgrounds. Shift options may include day, evening, or a combination of scheduled shifts, with the possibility of weekend or on-call responsibilities to cover urgent and emergent vascular needs. Requirements

  • RVT certification (Registered Vascular Technologist)
  • ARDMS Vascular Technology certification (RDCS(VT))
  • Experience in physiological testing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in all vascular studies, including arterial venous duplex, physiological testing, and venous insufficiency
