About the role
We are seeking a Senior Registered Respiratory Therapist (Sr RRT) to join our team. This position assists the Supervisor with the day-to-day operations of the Respiratory Care Department and performs specialized respiratory care procedures.
Responsibilities
- Performs routine respiratory therapy procedures including IPPB, O2 therapy, humidity/aerosol therapy, pulmonary function lab, neonatal intensive care, HBO.
- Captures and analyzes patient data, conducts inspiratory force measurements and vital capacity tests, performs arterial blood gas punctures and analysis.
- Conducts bedside pulmonary function tests and in-lab tests with appropriate training.
- Assesses patients through observation, clinical data gathering, and reports findings accurately, making referrals as needed.
- Provides educational development and serves as a technical resource for patients, families, physicians, students, and other hospital staff.
- Participates in departmental and hospital continuous improvement opportunities.
- May assist with tracheal intubations, bronchoscopy, and other invasive procedures under supervision.
Requirements
- Required: Associates Degree in Respiratory Care; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Required: ICU, NICU, or CVU experience; 1-3 years of experience in a specialty area such as hyperbaric medicine, pulmonology, etc.; 1-3 years RRT experience.
- Required: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification; Neonatal-Pediatric Specialty certification; Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) certification; Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) licenses from Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification; Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) certification from National Board for Respiratory Care.
- Preferred: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification; Certified Asthma Educator certification; Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) certification from National Board for Respiratory Care; Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license from Tennessee; Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license from Arkansas; Certified Pulmonary Functions Technologist (CPFT) certification from National Board for Respiratory Care.
- Physical Demands: Medium work - up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and up to 25 lbs. of force frequently. Close visual acuity, ability to react quickly to emergencies, and exposure to hazardous materials.
Qualifications
- Must have completed competency and skill in advanced airway management.
- Ability to communicate verbally with associates, physicians, and other professionals.
- Preferably, prepared by education, training, or experience to work with age-specific populations.
- Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment.
- Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of work flow.
Skills
- Ability to understand and prepare moderately complex written materials.
- Good balance and coordination.
- Exposure to patient body fluids and hazardous materials.
