Registered Respiratory Therapist Pulmonary
Responsible for providing clinical support to medical providers in a pulmonary/sleep medicine physician practice setting under the direction of a physician. Support includes triaging patient and referring physician phone calls, rooming patients, taking vital signs, collecting and documenting patient information, conducting tests, providing patient equipment, and delivering patient and family education. Also provides clerical support as needed while modeling superior customer service.
Responsibilities
- Effectively triage phone calls from patients and referring physicians.
- Greet patients, collect pertinent information (including CPAP performance and compliance data for sleep medicine patients), and prepare them for examination by medical providers.
- Conduct pulmonary function and other testing consistent with scope of practice, training, and experience.
- Provide patients with prescribed equipment and supplies; facilitate CPAP therapy with durable medical equipment (DME) providers and provide related patient/family education.
- Educate patients and families on pulmonary diseases, sleep disorders, testing, treatments, and behavior modification.
- Coordinate care with other providers (including DME providers), diagnostic, treatment, and rehabilitation services.
- Support clinical activities of the practice, including meeting with CPAP equipment representatives, maintaining supply inventories, and checking/maintaining equipment.
- Provide assistance to clerical staff as needed.
- Perform arterial blood gases and cardiopulmonary exercise testing.
- Support and establish services for different respiratory modalities.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent certificate.
- New York State Respiratory Therapist license with current registration, including credentials received prior to 9/1993 OR New York State Respiratory Therapy Technician (RTT) license AND National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) active credentials as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum 3 years of respiratory therapy experience.
- 1 year of pulmonary function testing experience.
- PFT certification.
Skills
- New York State Respiratory Therapist license with current registration or RTT license with NBRC CRT certification.

Pay
Pay Range: $34.14 - $45.70 per hour.
Schedule
- Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- 8-hour shifts: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
- Monday through Friday; no weekends, holidays, or on-call.

Physical Requirements
Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires frequent walking, standing, or squatting.
