Responsibilities

• Provides respiratory care to patients, including aerosolized medication, oxygen therapy, and ventilation.
• Draws, analyzes, and reports blood gas results.
• Responds to rapid response and code blue situations, performing CPR as needed.
• Manages ventilators, both invasive and non-invasive, and documents changes.
• Assists with bedside bronchoscopy and manages non-invasive Bi-level and end-tidal CO2 capnography.
• Performs respiratory therapy treatments and procedures per physician orders and department protocols.
• Participates in interdisciplinary rounds, providing input on patient care to impact length of stay and re-admission rates.
• Assists with clinical instruction, precepts, and serves as a resource for lower-level therapists.
• Reviews workload, makes staff assignments, and ensures completion of tasks when acting as shift lead.
• Follows regulatory requirements for the blood gas lab, including quality control and analyzer maintenance.
• Identifies and implements cost-control methods while maintaining patient care quality.
• Completes and documents ECGs and ensures all errors and inefficiencies are reported to management.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Technical/Vocational School in respiratory therapy program prior to obtaining license or grandfathered in prior to licensure (Required)
• 1+ years critical care experience (Required)
• 3+ years Respiratory Care experience (Required)

Licenses and Certifications

• State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) (Required)
• Active NBRC Credentialed Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) (Required)
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) (Required)
