Registered Respiratory Therapist PRN Mixed Shifts

About the Role

This part-time, rotating-shift position provides general and emergency respiratory therapy procedures to patients as directed by physicians and protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Perform respiratory assessment, airway and ventilator management, bi-level non-invasive ventilation management, pulmonary diagnostics, delivery of medicated aerosols, bronchial hygiene therapy, and lung expansion therapy.
  • Assist with intubation, CPR, bronchoscopy, arterial line placement, arterial sampling, and ABG analysis and interpretation.
  • Assess changes in patient’s clinical condition, make independent judgements, and modify care as necessary according to departmental policies and approved physician protocols.
  • Routinely make rounds with physicians in critical care units.
  • Act as preceptor, actively support, and constructively contribute to the development of new and existing staff members.
  • Ensure accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to patients for revenue management.
  • Perform airway and ventilator management, including assessment, application, intubation, monitoring, and evaluation for infants, pediatrics, adolescents, and adults.
  • Perform arterial line insertions, ABG sticks, conduct ABG analysis, and interpret results.
  • Complete all mandatory training requirements on time.
  • Assist the department manager with Performance Improvement projects and other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • License to practice respiratory care in the state where services are performed (Idaho or Oregon).
  • Registered as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross (required at hire).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills to competently care for all assigned age groups (Neonate, Child, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric as applicable).
