About the role

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides respiratory care services to patients in accordance with physician orders, departmental policies, and professional standards of practice. The RRT assesses patient needs, develops care plans, administers respiratory therapies, and collaborates with providers and nursing staff to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, treat, and monitor patients with cardiopulmonary disorders
  • Administer respiratory medications and therapeutic treatments
  • Manage oxygen therapy and aerosol treatments
  • Operate and troubleshoot respiratory care equipment
  • Perform patient assessments and document care accurately
  • Respond to respiratory emergencies and participate in code situations
  • Educate patients and families regarding respiratory treatments and disease management
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other caregivers to develop and implement treatment plans

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license or eligibility to obtain licensure in the state of Idaho
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Current ACLS, PALS, and/or NRP certifications
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Qualifications

  • Previous acute care hospital experience preferred
  • Experience with adult, pediatric, and neonatal respiratory care preferred

Skills

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

Pay

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
