Registered Respiratory Therapist Contingent

About the role

As a Registered Respiratory Therapist, you will provide individualized respiratory care for patients across the entire age continuum. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to facilitate improvement in the overall quality of patient care and coordinate services for all patients.

You will also participate in orientation and training programs for staff and students, representing the Respiratory Care department at Trinity Health System as a teaching institution.

Requirements

• Successful completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program
• Registered as Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Current licensure to practice in the State of Michigan as a Respiratory Therapist
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
• Neonatal Resuscitation Practitioner (NRP) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications (required within 6 months of hire)
• Previous work experience as a Respiratory Therapist preferred

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate technical and clinical competence in adult critical care
• Apply patient care protocols and utilize assessment information to review and revise the plan of care
• Prioritize therapy and patient care activities to meet changing demands
• Communicate with healthcare providers, units, and other customers to coordinate services and exceed customer service needs
• Act as a resource to physicians, nurses, and other team members to address clinical patient care concerns
• Ensure appropriate documentation and charges are entered for the correct patient, encounter, and date/time of service
• Assist with tracking and monitoring of equipment and request services for maintenance as needed
• Participate in ongoing education and seek experiences to maintain skills and competency
• Maintain confidentiality of patient, physician, associate, and visitor information
• Adhere to the Mission, Vision, and Values of SJMHS and perform job duties safely
