About the Role

As a Registered Respiratory Therapist, you will provide individualized respiratory care for patients across the entire age continuum. You will assist in improving the overall quality of patient care through a multidisciplinary approach, collaborating with the entire healthcare team to coordinate services. Additionally, you will participate in staff orientation and student training programs for Trinity Health System, representing the Respiratory Care department.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate technical and clinical competence in adult critical care.
  • Apply patient care protocols and use assessment information to review and revise the plan of care.
  • Prioritize therapy and patient care activities to meet changing demands.
  • Communicate with healthcare providers, units, and other customers to coordinate services and exceed customer service needs.
  • Act as a resource to physicians, nurses, and other team members for clinical patient care concerns.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation and charges are entered for the correct patient, encounter, and date/time of service.
  • Assist with tracking and monitoring of equipment and request maintenance services as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing education and seek experiences to maintain skills and competency.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient, physician, associate, and visitor information.
  • Adhere to the Mission, Vision, and Values of SJMHS.
  • Perform job duties safely and report hazards or unsafe practices immediately to management.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program.
  • Registered as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Current licensure to practice in the State of Michigan as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Maintain Neonatal Resuscitation Practitioner (NRP) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (required within 6 months of hire).
  • Previous work experience as a Respiratory Therapist preferred.
