Registered Respiratory Therapist, ACC/PICU Night shift 7p-7a 12hr 72hr/pp (Bronson Methodist Hospital)
Job Summary
The Registered Respiratory Therapist, ACC/PICU Night shift at BMH Bronson Methodist Hospital provides respiratory care to patients with cardiopulmonary abnormalities and deficiencies under the supervision of the Respiratory Manager and/or Director. Duties include administering respiratory care, communicating with providers and nurses, and performing various therapeutic procedures.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates and discusses patient respiratory status with providers and nurses
- Administers and adjusts oxygen therapy
- Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation and assists with “Code Blue”
- Maintains and secures artificial airways
- Performs basic pulmonary function tests and EKGs
- Assists with bedside bronchoscopies, intubations, and extubations
- Provides patient and family education
- Works overtime and shifts as needed
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (AS), Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Current Respiratory Therapist license in the State of Michigan
- Registered Respiratory Therapist credentials (RRT) within 1 year of hire
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and AAP-NRP certifications (site specific)
- Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program and 5+ years of experience (for those hired after 2004)
Qualifications
- Knowledge of advanced respiratory diagnosis and rehabilitation
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 pounds
