About the role
The Polysomnographic technologist works under the general supervision of the medical director or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders including in center and home sleep apnea testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, comprehensive patient care and direct patient education.
Responsibilities
- Administers various sleep studies in order to diagnose the type and extent of sleep disorders.
- Performs routine patient assessments, scores sleep records, documents other test results, and collects and transmits biological specimens for analysis.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, and 3 years of relevant patient care experience.
- Average 10 credits of sleep education per year over the past 36 months.
- Board Registered Polysomnographic Technologist, or holds a credential in a related field i.e.: Respiratory, EEG, Nursing.
- If credentialed in a related field, sleep credential required within 24 months.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
