Registered Polysomnographic Technologist

About the Role

Performs polysomnographic sleep studies on pediatric and adult patients, including equipment setup, patient preparation, overnight monitoring, and test scoring. Demonstrates knowledge of CPAP, BiPAP, and oxygen delivery, monitors patient response, completes accurate documentation, and collaborates with physicians interpreting sleep studies. Ensures safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment while following all safety, infection control, and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform overnight sleep studies on pediatric and adult patients
• Set up and prepare polysomnographic equipment
• Conduct overnight monitoring and test scoring
• Implement CPAP, BiPAP, and oxygen delivery as needed
• Monitor patient response and complete accurate documentation
• Collaborate with physicians interpreting sleep studies
• Ensure safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment
• Follow all safety, infection control, and quality assurance measures

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• CPR certification by the American Heart Association (AHA) required (or obtain within probation period)
• Active AHA CPR certification must be maintained during employment
• Registered Polysomnographic Technologist certification

Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrable technical knowledge and acquired competencies to work with intermittent supervision after completing PSG Technician training checklist requirements

Working Conditions

• May require alternate shifts, including night shifts for sleep studies and day shifts for MSLTs

Preferred Qualifications

• Additional college-level biological science coursework
• Healthcare work experience
