Registered Polysomnographic Technologist

Primary location: Greeley, Colorado – Northern Colorado Medical Center, a 378-bed Level II trauma center and acute-care facility with over 3,000 employees. The hospital provides inpatient and outpatient services including medical, pediatric, obstetric, orthopedic, surgical, heart, cancer, and critical care. Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center is a leading cancer diagnosis and treatment facility in the region.

About the role

As a full-time Polysomnographic Technologist on the Respiratory Team, you will independently perform prescribed diagnostic sleep monitoring studies—including home sleep tests—analyze results, and act as a departmental resource. The schedule is full-time (36 hours/week) on a night shift (6:30 PM – 6:30 AM) with varied days, including weekends. Eligible shifts receive a $1.50/hour weekend differential and a $5/hour night differential. A $20,000 hire-on incentive and relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.

Responsibilities

• Obtain artifact-free sleep tracings that accurately reflect physiologic processes during patient sleep using the latest technology.
• Analyze all types of sleep records, identify and document sleep stages, and quantify physiologic processes during data acquisition.
• Ensure accurate and readable recordings by troubleshooting minor issues and making adjustments during testing.
• Collect and review pertinent medical, historical, and medication information to perform the appropriate study as prescribed by the physician.
• Assist with developing department policies, procedures, and processes to facilitate testing and maintain quality for optimal patient results.
• Support leadership with operations, scheduling, orientation, and training of new technical staff.
• Conduct or lead educational in-services and case study presentations.
• Ensure quality assurance standards in accordance with departmental policies and regulatory agencies.
• Serve as a resource to the department for diagnostic sleep monitoring, including home sleep tests.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
• Registry by the Board of Polysomnographic Technologists or proof of passing the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in all aspects of sleep disorders testing.
• Proficiency in the use and theory of all equipment related to sleep testing.
• Thorough knowledge of the sleep/wake cycle, its pathologies, EEG theory for sleep monitoring, and cardiopulmonary physiology during sleep.
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Pay

Estimated pay range: $26.82 – $40.22 per hour. Actual pay will be determined based on relevant experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location, ensuring pay equity across similar roles.
