Job Description
Assist pharmacist with submission of prior authorization requests to help facilitate medication approval through insurance. This involves communication with Lee Physician Clinics and insurance companies, managing work queues, reviewing patients' charts for disease states and labs associated with prescribed medications, drafting appeal letters, recommending covered alternatives, pending prescriptions for prescribers, and creating telephone encounters for documentation in patients' charts. Limited direct patient contact and no dispensing or preparation of medications.
Requirements
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Two years of Pharmacy Technician experience preferred.
- Licenses: Two years of hospital pharmacy experience required; Registered Pharmacy Technician with Florida Department of Health required; CphT (Certified Pharmacy Technician) with national Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required.
- Additional Requirements: Data entry and knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology; Ability to cope with confrontation.
