About The Urgent Care Program
The Behavioral Health Urgent Care Clinic (BHUCC) is the first program of its kind in the Kansas City area, providing immediate, same-day access to psychiatric medication for mental health and substance use needs. Through a multi-disciplinary approach, the BHUCC team delivers care every day of the week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the community’s needs.
Responsibilities
- Complete initial assessment/history on all clients entering treatment.
- Strategically use assessment information to make an appropriate clinical evaluation of a client’s current conditions in a timely manner, including making referrals, consulting with physicians, and educating clients as needed.
- Educate clients and families on symptoms, medications, and side effects.
- Provide a welcoming, trauma-informed approach toward all clients, visitors, and guests.
- Collect and maintain client information and document interactions within ReDiscover’s designated electronic medical record.
- Communicate and collaborate with an internal multi-disciplinary team to address various aspects of wellness and ensure positive coordination of client care.
Requirements
- Availability to work a part-time schedule of 72 hours per work week (12-hour shifts, 3 days a week, with weekend day shifts only twice a month). Clinic operates 7 days a week from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Active Missouri license as a Registered Nurse (or ability to practice as an RN in Missouri).
- At least two (2) years of clinical experience in direct service provision in a mental health setting preferred.
- Knowledge of community resources, health, and social service systems in the Kansas City metro area, with skill in establishing working relationships with community partners preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills with a recovery focus.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Intermediate computer skills, including typing, Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.
