Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator (RN) IMCU

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring an RN Unit Coordinator for a full-time night shift on the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) in Charlottesville, VA. The Telemetry/Stroke Unit (Cornell 1) provides care for patients with cardiac conditions including heart failure, cardiac rhythm disturbances, newly implanted permanent pacemakers and defibrillators, post‑coronary interventions, post‑ablation, myocardial infarctions, as well as TIA, acute stroke, and post‑procedural neuro cases that step down from ICU. This 30‑bed unit maintains a 1:5 nurse‑to‑patient ratio with mixed acuity levels and is supported by patient care technicians, educators, and a strong leadership team. The hospital reports an RN turnover rate under 12.6% and the highest patient satisfaction scores in the system, offers a foundation education assistance program up to $32,500, free parking, and a free gym.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates proficiency in nursing practice for the assigned specialty area and provides clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care in the department.
- Under the direction of the department manager, leads safety and quality initiatives.
- Focuses on and simplifies workflow.
- Contributes to the development of staff.
- Increases staff satisfaction and promotes excellent (Gold Standard) customer service.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nursing license (required).
- BLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
- Minimum 18 months of acute care RN experience.
- Prior healthcare experience.
- Preferred: stroke/telemetry area experience.
- Preferred: IMCU or ICU experience.
- Preferred: previous charge nurse experience.
